ESCRIMA

The philosophy behind Escrima is very simple . The whole is always greater than the sum of its parts.  For example, a technique alone will not work without the combination of balance, strength, speed, focus, timing and posture.  When these elements are combined, the result is "the whole", which is usually much more effective than the sum of the parts alone.

WHAT IS ESCRIMA?

Escrima is a dynamic, logical weapon fighting system, whose origins can be found in the Philippines.

Escrima is a highly developed martial art that is strictly based on mathematical and physical laws and is extremely economical in its movements.

From everyday objects to the stick to the medieval two-handed sword or the lance, Escrima offers an almost inexhaustible range.

For this reason, the techniques as practised in this system are only the tools to understand, accept and retain the ideas behind them. However, the mere number of different techniques mastered by a person does not increase his level and competence in this system. Techniques are only movements to practise, but they have nothing to do with real fighting. 

The ultimate goal of martial arts is to achieve an effective cooperation of your mental, physical and technical abilities.  The aim of the Escrima system is to make you a good Escrimador who can think creatively and respond anticipatorily rather than being overwhelmed with information.

WHAT DOES ESCRIMA OFFER YOU?

Your self-confidence is increased through strategic learning. You use your body's own weapons and are able to effectively use everyday objects such as a lighter, keys, handbag, umbrella or many other things. 

Escrima can be learned by anyone - regardless of constitution or physical fitness. Only what is really applicable in reality is trained. Simplicity and effectiveness are in the foreground.

The only requirement is that you want to learn something new.
